Sipsmith raised already raised 200% of its crowd-funding target to launch The Worshipful Company of SipsmithsThe London-based distillery has embarked on a crowd-funding campaign to launch the Worshipful Company of Sipsmiths, a service which offers subscribers samples of Sipsmith gins that will never be commercially released.
While the campaign will run on Indiegogo for another 19 days, it has already achieved 203% of its funding target.
Those who fund the project have three options to choose from.
Court Members pledge £250 in return for made-to-order copper coin marking their status as a “Smithsonian for life”, a tasting experience with master distiller Jared Brown, Sipsmith branded glasses and four sipping service packs.
After pledging £150, funders are named Liveryman, founders of the Worshipful Company of Sipsmiths who will receive four sipping packs and a founding edition founding edition pack containing four gins and a copper spirits measure.
Those who pledge £60 are named Freeman of the Guild, receiving a founding edition pack and handcrafted copper spirit measure.
Once launched, subscribers to the Worshipful Company of Sipsmiths service will receive four “surprise” 90ml experimental gin bottles every three months.
Sam Galsworthy, co-founder of Sipsmith, said the company decided to launch on Indiegogo to ascertain whether the public “thinks this idea has legs”.
“[…] Whilst we think a quarterly sipping service is a wonderful idea, and our friends think it’s a wonderful idea, we want to know if you think it’s a good idea too before we go all in,” Galsworthy said on the crowd-funding page.
While the first sipping packs will be delivered to funders before Christmas, Sipsmith plans to roll the service out more broadly in February 2016.
