Percy’s alcoholic tea seeks TV crowd-funding

The entrepreneur behind Percy’s Iced Tea – a blend of vodka and flavoured iced tea variants – is taking part in a crowd-funding TV show to further grow the brand.

The founder of Percy’s Iced Tea is seeking crowd-funding investment via a new TV programme

Claire Hall created Percy’s in 2005 and is now seeking a £10,000 investment, part of the funding she requires to automate the drinks’ production process.

To secure the funding, she has taken part in The Money Pit, a new television programme hosted by comedian and actor Jason Manford and writer and performer Dominic Frisby. The show is aired on Freeview channel, Dave.

The Money Pit concept sees ordinary people with anything from £100 to £20,000 choose to invest in various entrepreneurs, inventors, tradespeople, artisans and tech creators. The series has been likened to “business speed dating”, with the amateur investors able to change their minds right up until the close of each episode.

Hall does not yet know which episode Percy’s is featured in, and is “keeping tight lipped” as to the outcome of the investment pitch.

Percy’s is available in White Tea, Apple & Elderflower; White Tea, Pear & Raspberry; Black Tea, Pear & Ginger; and Black Tea, Apple, Lemon & Lime variants. It is available in a number of pack formats at 4.5%abv.

Percy’s follows Critter Bitters as the latest product to look to crowd-funding to grow a drinks brand.
