Penny Blue rolls out first single cask rum

The “rare” Penny Blue Single Cask is the first of its kind to launch outside of MauritiusCreated at the Medine Distillery, the “rare” bottling was initially made exclusively available in Mauritius.
Doug McIvor from Berry Bros. & Rudd and Medine master distiller Jean-Francois Koenig selected cask #28, distilled in 2006, to be bottled as the single cask.
“We have selected a really exceptional cask for this special single cask edition; the rum is rich and luxuriant,” said Koeing. “We are exceedingly proud of this single cask and are working on new innovations for future releases from the well-received Penny Blue series.”
Bottled at 44.8%, only 197 bottles have been released at an RRP of £140 and will be exclusively available from the Berry Bros. & Rudd shop and at Coes Vintners.
First launched in 2013, Penny Blue is named after the world’s rarest stamp which was first printed in Mauritius in 1847.
