Bacardi releases Aberfeldy 16YO Scotch

Bacardi has expanded its Aberfeldy Highland single malt Scotch whisky brand with the launch of a 16-year-old expression finished in Oloroso sherry casks.

The new expression is finished in Oloroso sherry casks and will be available in 11 markets globally

Bacardi’s Scotch whisky arm John Dewar & Sons has unveiled the latest expression from “The Golden Dram” – the name given to Aberfeldy’s water source, the Pitilie Burn, which is renowned for being rich in mineral deposits including alluvial gold.

Aberfeldy 16 Years Old is finished in Oloroso sherry casks, which is said to give a “more pronounced sherry accent” to the malt, and provide extra notes of “dried fruit and spice”.

Bottled at 40% abv, the new release offers notes of “honey, citrus and spicy cloves” and is described as “sherried and full like fruitcake” with “dabs of dark chocolate”.

The new expression is available in 11 markets around the world: Belgium, Canada, Germany, France, Japan, Lebanon, Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, Taiwan and the UK; at an RRP of £62.00.

At the start of the year eight bottles of a rare 28-year-old Aberfeldy Single Highland Malt Whisky were launched exclusively at the DFS annual Masters of Wines and Spirits and sold out within three hours.
