Elijah Craig 18YO Single Barrel makes comeback

Heaven Hill has re-launched its Elijah Craig 18 Year Old Single Barrel Bourbon after a three-year hiatus, which was brought on by stock shortages.

Elijah Craig 18 Year Old Single Barrel has returned to the US following a three-year hiatus

First introduced in 1992, bottles of Elijah Craig 18 Year Old Single Barrel ran dry in 2012 as not enough older barrels met the distiller’s standards.

As more stock comes of age, Heaven Hill has re-released the expression in the US as a limited edition. The distiller is also re-releasing a limited number of Elijah Craig 23 Year Old Single Barrel Bourbon.

Heaven Hill said it will release approximately 15,000 bottles of the 18-year-old single barrel this autumn at an RRP of US$120, while the 23-year-old, priced US$199, will be “even more limited”.

“We at Heaven Hill have been offering aged Bourbons and single barrel bottlings as old as 18, 23, or even 27 years, for longer than anyone else,” said Susan Wahl, senior brand manager for whiskeys at Heaven Hill Brands.

“Our experience in this arena, along with our renowned quality standards and inventory of over one million aging barrels, means we can select and bottle extra-aged Bourbons that are unlike any others in the world, and provide a unique tasting experience for the true aficionado.

“This is really showcased in the Elijah Craig 18 and 23 Year Old Single Barrel bottlings.”

The face label has been slightly altered since its last appearance in 2012, with the logo now echoing the same Elijah Craig label on the brand’s Small Batch, Barrel Proof, and 23 Year Old Single Barrel.

Elijah Craig 23 Year Old Single Barrel first launched in October last year.
