Diageo gives Buchanan’s Scotch design makeover

Diageo has introduced new packaging for the majority of its Buchanan’s blended Scotch whisky range to create a “more contemporary look”.

Blended Scotch whisky brand Buchanan’s has been given a “more contemporary” packaging update

Three of Buchanan’s four blends – Buchanan’s DeLuxe, Buchanan’s Master and Buchanan’s Special Reserve – have received design updates, while new packaging for Buchanan’s Red Seal will follow in 2016.

Buchanan’s, the biggest blended Scotch whisky brand in Brazil, said the shape of its bottles will remain the same, and its red seal will also be incorporated into the new design.

“The Buchanan’s redesign reinforces the brand’s continued evolution as one of the world’s most premium Scotch whiskies,” stated Brian Cox, director of Scotch whisky, North America at Diageo.

“The packaging has been updated, but Buchanan’s’ unfaltering whisky and quality remain the same. As always, we remind people to enjoy Buchanan’s in moderation and to drink responsibly.”

The new bottles will launch this autumn. Buchanan’s Special Reserve 18 and Buchanan’s DeLuxe will begin distribution in early October and Buchanan’s Master will hit shelves in November.

While Daigeo claims Buchanan’s experienced double-digit growth over the last 10 years, the brand experienced a 16% decline in total volume sales in 2014.
