Inaugural Mixology Trends set for Madrid

The first Mixology Trends event, an international congress on mixology, spirits and “gastronomic harmonies” trends is set to take place in Madrid this month.

Mixology Trends will be held for the first time this month.

Held at the Palacio Municial de Congresos from 28-29 September, Mixology Trends is organised by Drinks Marketing Group and is billed as the “biggest mixology event in the history of Spain”. The organisers hope to bring together thousands of professionals from brands and bars in an educational environment.

Attendees will be able to enjoy more than 40 conference sessions hosted by international opinion leaders. Michelin-starred chefs will be on-hand to pair food with spirits, and the “Mixology (X) Trends Awards” will reward achievements across the spirits, beverage and food industries over the past year.

“Our company Drinks Marketing Group has been market leader on spirit trade events since 2006,” said Nacho Espadas de la Cruz, marketing manager. “Our market is one of the world’s key consumption markets in spirits, mixology and gastronomy, are key industries for our economy.

“Mixology Trends is joint venture of three very established companies in the Spanish market: Drinks Marketing Group; Diego Cabrera, a specialist bar consultant; and Euromercadis, a spirits distribution consultancy.”

With Spain at last recovering from the global economic crisis, Espadas is convinced 2015 is the right time to launch Mixology Trends. “Demand for new quality products and services are key for Spanish trade and consumers. National media and government are supporting our idea in order to position Spain as one of the key markets based on education of our trade.”
