Edinburgh Gin sells 90k drinks during Fest

Spencerfield Spirit-owned Edinburgh Gin reports it has sold more than 90,000 gin-based drinks from its St Andrew Square gin garden during the city’s renowned Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

More than 90,000 gin-based drinks were served from Edinburgh Gin’s van throughout Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Edinburgh Festival Fringe is one of the world’s largest arts festivals and this year took place from 7-31 August at venues across the city.

The brand marked the occasion with an Edinburgh Gin garden, which offered classic G&Ts and gin-based cocktails from an Edinburgh Gin Van. An Edinburgh Gin free stage, also in the square, provided entertainment for guests.

St Andrew Square activities form part of a sponsorship agreement between Edinburgh Gin and Salt ‘n’ Sauce promotions, who manage events in the space under the banner “Stand in the Square”.

“Festival time is always hugely exciting and busy and this year we launched a successful sponsorship programme to reflect our growth and expansion,” said Alex Nicol, managing director of Spencerfield Spirits.

“Edinburgh consumes more gin than any other UK city and there is no better time to celebrate that than during the Festival.

“To see 90,000 Edinburgh Gin-based drinks sold in just six weeks is a phenomenal achievement and reaffirms gin as the number one drink of choice for festival-goers this year.”

The Edinburgh Gin Distillery is located beneath the Rutland Hotel in Edinburgh’s West End. The distillery houses two custom-made stills used for developing new products and providing research into Scottish botanicals and the history of distilling in Edinburgh, in association with Heriot-Watt University.

Handcrafted in small batches with Scottish juniper berries, pine, heather and nine other botanicals, Edinburgh Gin is bottled in Edinburgh at 43% abv. Last month, the brand underwent a bottle redesign, said to make the product “easier to handle” for bartenders.
