The new release is the sixth expression in the Cognac house’s series of multi-vintage – or “multi-millésime” – blends.

Frapin’s cellar master Patrice Piveteau created the release using 1986, 1988 and 1991 Grande Champagne premier cru vintages.

According to the given tasting notes, Multimillésime No. 6 opens with “finesse and subtlety”. The 1986 vintage has “grapefruit and fig” aromas as well as “floral notes”. The “woody rancio” notes of the 1988 vintage contribute “structure”, while the 1991 liquid offers “finesse and delicacy” with “candied fruit, orange, apricot, honey and spices”.

The release is packaged in a “classic” bottle based on an ancient Cognac flacon and presented in a wooden gift box. As with previous Multimillésime editions, 1,270 bottles have been produced as a tribute to the lineage behind the Frapin estate. The same family has looked after the vineyard since the 13th century. Today, Cognac Frapin owns 240 hectares of vines cultivated using traditional techniques.

Multimillésime No. 6 is distributed in the UK exclusively by Louis Latour and is expected to retail at £210 for 70cl.
