1792 Port Finish Bourbon is the first Port cask-finished Bourbon from the Barton 1792 Distillery1792 Port Finish Bourbon is the second launch in the range, following the release of 1792 Sweet Wheat Bourbon earlier this year.
The Bourbon has been aged in new American white oak barrels for six years before spending an additional two years maturing inside used wine Port barrels.
Ken Pierce, director of distillation and quality assurance at Barton, describes the new expression as having “a rich aroma of apple and fruit mingling with noticeable vanilla”.
He added: “The taste is soft, yet balanced. Filled with toasted caramel, jam-like fruit, and a touch of licorice. A clean, somewhat lingering finish completes the taste.”
Bottled at 88.9% proof (44.45% abv), 1792 Port Finish Bourbon will be available in the US next month at an RRP of US$39.99.
The Barton 1792 Distillery confirmed its intention to release more Port cask-finished whiskeys.
