Wemyss Malts’ recently opened Kingsbarns Distillery has bottled its 63.5% abv new make spirit to sell in its visitors’ centre.

The Lowlands single malt distillery officially opened in Fife in November last year, overlooking the Kingsbarns Championship Golf Course.
It will produce single malt Scotch whisky from Fife-grown malted barley that’s matured predominantly in ex-Bourbon casks.
The new make spirit, priced £14.95, is the first product released by Kingsbarns since its opening.
“It’s a great pleasure to share our new spirit with visitors,” said distillery manager Peter Holroyd.
“The spirit itself is an elegant, fruity and floral spirit and I can’t wait to see how it is going to develop into Scotch whisky over the coming years. I recommend that water is added to enjoy the fruity flavours at their best.”
The Wemyss family, which already bottles a range of Scotch whiskies including The Spice King, The Peat Chimney and The Hive, took over the Kingsbarns Distillery project in 2013.
Its founder Douglas Clement, a former caddie, had raised £100,000 plus a £150,000 grant from Scottish Enterprise, but was still way off the £1.85m target needed to build the distillery come January 2013.
