The Falkirk Distillery Company’s new build is almost 80% complete.Fiona Stewart from The Falkirk Distillery Company, the family owned enterprise behind the new build, told The Spirits Business that the stills and washbacks are now in-situ. She added that the company is aiming for completion in “six or seven months” but declined to give a specific date.
The Falkirk Distilling Company broke ground for the build in November 2010. The finished distillery will produce a lowland-style, triple-distilled whisky.
Rosebank was the last producing distillery in the Falkirk area, with its whisky described as the “vision” for the new venture.
Once completed, the distillery and attached retail and restaurant complex will create more than 80 full time jobs and is expected to attract around 75,000 visitors a year.
The Falkirk Distillery update comes as Scotch whisky firm R&B Distillers asks members of the public to choose the location for the first Borders distillery in 180 years.
