Disaronno’s $350 Scotch-based liqueur hits US
Disaronno will roll out its ultra-premium “Scotch-based liqueur” in the US this autumn – the first new product from the Italian brand in nearly 500 years.
Disaronno Riserva is a limited edition and the first new product from the brand in 500 years
Disaronno Riserva will be the first new product since the original liqueur was founded in 1525, and has been aged for 12 years in vintage Marsala wine barrels in Sicily.
The new variant is said to offer a spicy sweetness that leads to light and fruity vanilla-almond notes.
“Disaronno Riserva is my passion project,” said Augusto Reina, CEO of Illva Saronno Company.
“I worked continuously for years to perfect the blend, which is strongly tied to our company’s roots and brand heritage.”
Reina was inspired to create Disaronno Riserva by a trip to the Highlands and Speyside, in Scotland, where he chose the whiskies best suited to blend with Disaronno.
The expression is aged at the company’s own Cantine Floria, situated near the sea, which create the “optimum conditions” for ageing.
Just 10,000 bottles have been produced and will be available from luxury retailers at an RRP of US$349 per 750ml bottle, which comes presented in a black wooden box.
