Diageo brings Royal Lochnagar Distillery Director initiative to UK
By Kristiane SherryRoyal Lochnagar is rolling out its exclusive £1,450 per year Distillery Director programme to the UK market.
Diageo-controlled Royal Lochnagar has introduced its Distillery Director members-only clubThe 12 month scheme was developed with the “curious whisky drinker in mind” and is said to offer an “educational and experiential journey” into what it takes to become a whisky maker.
Members each receive a toolkit and master class tasting notes from the Royal Lochnagar distillery, which accompany a number of exclusive whisky releases delivered throughout the year.
They then have the opportunity to feed back their flavour preferences to the master distiller. These will then be taken into consideration in the creation of a Director’s Edition expression, only offered to Distillery Director members.
Also available to members is a concierge service, which is on hand to co-ordinate “behind the scenes” visits to the distillery.
“It’s a unique opportunity for people to build and enhance their knowledge of whisky and be part of the whisky making process,” said Jackie Robertson, distillery manager at Royal Lochnagar.
“We’ve been making whisky at Royal Lochnagar since 1845, using much the same methods today as were used then. The Distillery Director programme offers a rare chance to be part of this heritage and we look forward to welcoming members in to share the knowledge and expertise built up over some 170 years.”
Whisky fans must apply via the Distillery Director website to become a member.
