Bruno Mars’ SelvaRey Rum expands US distribution

SelvaRey, the Panamanian rum co-owned and co-founded by musician Bruno Mars, has expanded distribution across the US.

Panamanian rum SelvaRey has widened its distribution in the US.

In addition to California and Nevada, SelvaRey is now available in New Jersey, New York, South Carolina, Georgia, Washington DC, Tennessee, Florida and Hawaii.

The product is set to expand into Ontario, Canada, this autumn.

SelvaRey, which roughly translates as “king of the jungle”, was founded as a joint venture between musician Bruno Mars and Seth Gold, Marc Gold and Robert Herzig. Together they partnered with maestro ronero Don “Pancho” Francisco Fernandez, who had built his own distillery in Panama.

Its white rum, SelvaRey White, is a blend of three and five-year-old rums, distilled in 1922 copper column stills, aged in ex-Bourbon casks and carbon filtered to remove its colour without its aged flavour characteristics. It is bottled at 40% abv and is available at US$25 for a 750ml bottle.

SelvaRey Cacao is a five-year-old rum infused with natural chocolate. Suggested serves include the Old Fashioned, Chocolate Mojito or as an “upscale coffee cocktail”. It retails at US$30 for 750ml and is bottled at 35% abv.

Selvarey White was awarded a Silver medal at The Rum Masters 2014.
