Alan Lodge Young Spirits Writer Award open for entries

The fourth annual Alan Lodge International Young Spirits Writer of the Year Award is open for entries.

Amy Hopkins, winner of the 2014 Alan Lodge Award, Ian Taylor of William Grant, Daisy Jones, The Spirits Business, and the Lodge family

The Award was founded in memory of Alan Lodge, the late deputy editor of The Spirits Business, to recognise promising young spirits journalists, bloggers and columnists under the age of 35. Alan sadly passed away suddenly in February 2012.

The Award, while organised by The Spirits Business and kindly sponsored by William Grant & Sons, is entirely assessed by an independent panel of judges, making the decision process entirely impartial.

Past recipients of the award are Amy Hopkins, news and web editor at The Spirits Business, Hamish Smith, deputy editor of Drinks International, and Laura Foster, assistant editor of Imbibe.

“I’m truly delighted and touched to have won this award, which came as a huge surprise to me, particularly knowing the calibre of talent among previous winners,” Hopkins said.

“It saddens me greatly that I never had the opportunity to meet Alan, but knowing how much he was loved in the industry, and that he was such an immensely talented journalist, makes this award all the more special.”
