A. Smith Bowman unveils ‘high rye’ edition

Abraham Bowman Limited Edition High Rye Bourbon is now available in “extremely limited” quantitiesAbraham Bowman Limited Edition High Rye Bourbon has been aged for seven years and nine months in Virginia and has been bottled at 100 proof (50% abv).
The whiskey is said to have an aroma of pepper, sweet vanilla, caramel and toasted oak, with a flavour of honey, praline, spice, baked apples and cherries.
“This high rye Bourbon has such a distinct nose and taste profile that I think fans looking for a full-bodied Bourbon with lots of spice will really enjoy,” said master distiller Brian Prewitt.
“It’s been fun to release experiments like these, and we look forward to creating even more interesting expressions that are a good fit for our Abraham Bowman line in the future.”
Abraham Bowman Limited Edition High Rye Bourbon is part of a series of limited edition whiskies, named after Abraham Bowman, the commander of the 8th Virginia Regiment in the American Revolutionary War.
It is the twelfth release in the Abraham line, which features new releases a few times a year.
Available from August 2015, the whiskey carries an RRP of US$69.99 and will be available predominantly in Virginia due to its very limited quantities.
Earlier this year A.Smith Bowman Distillery marked its 80th anniversary with the installation of a new experimental still.
