Kilchoman to sponsor equestrian championships
Independent Islay whisky distillery Kilchoman is to sponsor the upcoming FEI European Eventing Championships, to be held at Blair Castle, Scotland, from 10-13 September.
Kilchoman is set to bring a touch of Islay to the equestrian three day event.As part of the sponsorship arrangement, each day there will be a “Kilchoman Moment of the Day”. A lucky recipient will be awarded a bottle of the 100% Islay expression in the event’s main arena. The prize can be given for any significant contribution throughout the equestrian competition, be it by a competitor or a spectator.
“We are delighted to be a sponsor at the Longines FEI European Eventing Championship,” Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Distillery founder and managing director, told Horsetalk.co.nz. “We are proud of our Scottish roots and we look forward to being part one of the most anticipated events of the year.”
Alec Lochore, Blair 2015 Event Director added: “We are pleased to have a family-owned Scottish distillery that encompasses the spirit of Scotland sponsoring at Blair 2015. I think it’s a brilliant gesture for the distillery to award a prize everyday to the winner of the ‘Kilchoman Moment of the Day’.”
The Scotch whisky industry as a whole invested more than £5.3 million on commercial sponsorships throughout 2014, 89% of which was channelled into sport.
