Jim Beam launches retailer barrel selection scheme
By Annie HayesBeam Suntory has launched a scheme that allows retailers to sample barrels of Jim Beam Single Barrel Bourbon before selecting one to purchase.
Jim Beam is offering retail customers the chance to partake in the selection process through the Jim Beam Single Barrel programEach individual barrel of Jim Beam Single Barrel Bourbon is hand-selected by the brand’s master distillers, which means no two barrels are the same – and now Jim Beam is offering retail customers the chance to partake in the selection process through the Jim Beam Single Barrel program.
Retailers have two options for selecting their personal liquid; first, via a tasting kit sent through the post which contains three samples approved by Fred Noe, 7th generation master distiller, and his team.
Each package includes a wooden keepsake sample box, and a brochure with information about the program, specifics about the samples, and the process of selecting the barrel.
The second option is Distiller’s Choice, whereby a barrel is selected on retailers’ behalf by Jim Beam distillers.
When customers purchase 34 six-bottle cases of Jim Beam Single Barrel – the equivalent of one barrel – they receive point-of-sale materials for both on- and off-premise.
After the selection process has been completed, the liquid will then be bottled, hand-numbered, and shipped for the retailer to sell.

Last year, Jim Beam gave Bourbon fans the chance to co-create a Jim Beam Single Barrel bottle label.
