Camus Cognac unveils Rarissimes Borderies 2004
By Melita KielyCognac house Camus has launched what it claims is the only Borderies vintage on the market – Camus Rarissimes Borderies 2004.
The Camus Borderies collection comprises Borderies XO, Borderies VSOP and Rarissimes Borderies 2004Rarissimes Borderies 2004 is a 100% Ugni Blanc Cognac distilled on fine lees and has an abv of 42.8%.
In addition, the brand has also unveiled Camus VSOP Borderies 2015, which is bottled at 40% abv and forms part of an annual series of releases from Camus since 2012.
The 2015 batch is described as fresh with flavours of vanilla pods and orange peel, mixed with sweet and floral spice.
At 40% abv, the expressions is said to offer fruity, spicy and gourmet notes with a long-lasting floral finish.
“Cognac is first and foremost an adventure of man…and the Borderies, one of a doting family,” said Patrick Léger, house of Camus cellar master.
With more than 180 hectares of Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Folle Blanche vineyards, Camus is one of the largest landowners in the Borderies – the smallest and rarest cru in the Cognac AOC.
Camus Rarissimes Borderies 2004 has an RRP of €490 per 700ml bottle, but is not available to buy in France.
The Borderies VSOP 2015 is available globally from July at an RRP of €47 per 700ml bottle and €64 per one litre bottle.
Camus XO Borderies is available in either 700ml ,one litre or 1.5 litre bottles, with RRPs of €139, €229 and €340 respectively.
