Balcones to bring new whiskeys and rum to UK

Texas distillery Balcones is readying to bring a series of new whiskeys and rum expressions to the UK this autumn “in celebration” of its nearly completed distillery expansion.

Balcones Texas Single Malt Whisky will be available to buy in the UK this autumn

Set to launch through Maverick Drinks, three new spirits will be released – Staff Selection Single Barrel Single Malt Whisky, Texas Blue Corn Bourbon Whisky and Texas Rum.

Furthermore, True Blue 100, which was originally part of Balcones’ core range of whiskeys, will be made re-available to consumers.

The first Staff Selection bottling is a cask of Texas single malt hand selected by the Balcones team, aged in Hungarian oak casks and bottled at 62.5% abv.

It will form part of an annual series of limited edition single barrel releases.

With an abv of 64.5%, Texas Blue Corn Bourbon Whisky has been rested in new oak barrels to deliver a “bold and complex” character.

Described as “round and full of flavour” Balcones Texas Rum is double distilled and bottled at 63.9% abv.

Fruit flavours combined with viscous notes of vanilla and caramel are said to be present on the palate, designed to “excite both the rum purist and the committed whiskey drinker”.

Balcones new distillery site is scheduled to be fully operational by January 2016.
