Woodford Reserve launches new rye in UK

Brown-Forman has extended the availability of Woodford Reserve’s first permanent rye whiskey to the UK, six months after its US debut.

Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Rye will be available in the UK from next month

Selectively available in on-trade outlets from July, Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Rye is only the third permanent addition to the Kentucky Bourbon brand’s portfolio, joining Double Oaked and Distiller’s Select.

Made in the style of traditional Kentucky ryes, the expression is said to have a “bold flavour” of pepper, tobacco and fruit with a “sweetly spiced finish”.

Master distiller Chris Morris has used a mash bill containing 53% rye to build upon the spice characteristics of the original Woodford Reserve.

“Our commitment to flavour is something that is ingrained in everything we do and no liquid embodies that better than Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey,” said Morris.

“With its bold flavours of pepper and tobacco combined with its long fruit and sweetly spiced finish, it’s been really well received in the US and I’m sure the growing army of whiskey fans around the UK are going to find it really interesting.”

Bottled at 45.2% abv, the rye whiskey follows the launch of the limited edition Woodford Reserve Sonoma-Cutrer Pinot Noir Finish at the end of last year.
