William Grant hires new chief marketing officer

William Grant & Sons has appointed former Diageo marketing and innovation director for Africa Philip Gladman as its chief marketing officer and member of its executive board.

William Grant and Sons has appointed Philip Gladman as chief marketing officer

Gladman will report to William Grant & Sons chief executive Stella David and will also be responsible for looking after the company’s global travel retail business.

“I am sure Philip will make a great contribution to the company and our fantastic portfolio of brands,” commented Stella David, chief executive, William Grant & Sons.

“He is a highly accomplished marketing executive with 20 years of international marketing experience.”

Gladman moves to William Grant & Sons from Flintock, a consulting business he founded in 2014.

His previous experiences include 14 years at Diageo where he worked in numerous roles including director, marketing and innovation for Africa, Smirnoff global brand director and marketing director GB.

“Whilst the last year has been so exciting, founding Flintlock and leading the team on the turnaround at Hovis, the opportunity to join the board of such a dynamic global business with fantastic brands stewarded by brilliant people was too good to pass up,” said Gladman.

“I only hope that I can continue to build the amazing portfolio at William Grant & Sons in a manner that would make the brilliant marketers before me proud.”
