US micro-distillery launches locally-sourced gin
Washington-based micro-distillery One Eight Distilling has introduced Ivy City Gin to its portfolio of vodka and whiskey.
The new gin is distilled using locally sourced rye, corn and malted rye
The new American dry gin is distilled using locally sourced grains, made up of 63% rye, 26% corn and 11% malted rye, with juniper, spicebush, and “other select botanicals”.
It will join two other craft spirits from the distillery: District Made Vodka and Rock Creek Whiskey.
One Eight Distilling prides itself on producing “the finest spirits from grain to glass all within Washington, DC”.
The distillery will donate US$1 from every bottle sold in the district to Habitat for Humanity of Washington, an organization which supports ongoing projects in the gin’s namesake, Ivy City.
“We are proud to debut Ivy City Gin in a way that promotes our city and benefits our community,” said One Eight Distilling co-founder Alexander Wood.
“We are fortunate to be able to partner with others who are doing great work in this neighborhood with a series of Ivy City Gin release events centered here in Ivy City.”
Ivy City Gin is bottled at 40% abv, and will be available at selected retailers, bars and restaurants in Washington, DC.
