By Melita KielyGin brand Pinkster has appointed the former retail director from Cambridge Wine Merchants as sales manager in an effort to further its expansion plans.
Pinkster gin has appointed a new sales manager and brand ambassador as it eyes UK expansionLyndsey Spellman will be responsible for driving UK off-trade and on-trade growth, with an initial focus on the East of England.
“Fair to say that I’m fantastically excited about this new challenge,” said Spellman. “I’ve watched Pinkster’s growth from the side lines and am looking forward to sharing such an original product with both consumers and the industry.”
Spellman spent 10 years with Cambridge Wine Merchants before moving to Pinkster and will work with head of sales Mark Leveson-Gower to hire a new London-based brand ambassador.
“Lyndsey’s formidable track record together with her passion for quirky, artisanal products and encyclopedic gin knowledge gave us little choice,” commented Stephen Marsh, Pinkster’s managing director. “And, as anyone who’s met her will vouch, she’s a force of nature and a demon salesperson.
“We hold Cambridge Wine Merchants in the highest of esteem, so as a local small business, we’re thrilled to have snaffled her up. It’s a big hire.”
Furthermore, Pinkster has recruited three new wholesalers, including Mullwood Wines in Lancashire, Nectar Imports and St Austell Brewery in Cornwall, and appointed Claire Houghton as North West brand ambassador.
Houghton was a finalist in the 2014 Speed Rack female bartender competition and currently works as head bartender at Living Venture’s Gusto in Alderly Edge near Manchester.
“We’re two-years-old this month,” added Marsh. “Sometimes I can’t help but scratch my head to think how far we’ve come in a short space of time.
“Without a doubt we’ve proved there’s an appetite for a gin that stands out from the crowd with its distinctive hue and flavour profile.”
Pinkster gin secured “six-figure financing” and distribution deals with Coe Vintners and Gordon and MacPhail in December last year.
