Bicycle gin bar comes to London this summer

A mobile bar called the Travelling Gin Company (TGC) plans to quench the thirst of gin lovers in various sites across London this summer.

Travelling Gin Company (TGC) will serve cocktails on bikes across London this summer

Creators Edward Godden and Joseph Lewis plan to pitch the bicycle bar in areas around the capital which allow them to apply for a temporary alcohol license.

The project involves a series of “butcher-style” bicycles that have been specially redesigned to serve cocktails through a spirit optic attached to the front.

The venture was started in 2012 following a cycling trip from London to Amsterdam, and has since operated on-demand.

Gooden said: “Since last year we’ve started to operate the Travelling Gin Company all year around.

“The majority of our pop-ups are through people booking us – for private views, shop openings, product launches, weddings, etc – but in the coming months we’re looking to put on a few of our own gigs, finding some good spots in London with a temporary license that we can park the bikes up and serve at.

“We’ll be announcing these on the-tgc.com and across our social media very soon.”

The duo has worked with names such as Ted Baker, Google London, and the National Trust to provide bespoke drinks for various events.

The bikes require no electricity or power, allowing the company to provide a mobile bar service anywhere.

Recently, the team collaborated with Ebeltoft Farm Brewery to create their own small-batch TGC Tonic, which was carefully paired with London Dry gins throughout development, to “highlight the botanical varieties well within each”.
