Woman’s supposed gin allergy actually cancer

A 24-year-old woman who thought she was allergic to gin has found out her symptoms were caused by Hodgkin Lymphoma.

In addition to the swelling, Addison developed night sweats and a rash after enjoying nights out, and went to see her GP

Eve Addison, from Merseyside in the UK, assumed she had an allergy after developing swelling around her collar bone, until she found switching brands made no difference to symptom – commonly found in Hodgkin Lymphoma sufferers.

Other symptoms of the disease include heavy sweating, abdominal pain or vomiting after consuming alcohol, losing a lot of weight over a short period of time, and itching – which may be worse after drinking alcohol.

In addition to the swelling, Addison developed night sweats and a rash after enjoying nights out, and went to see her GP.

She was diagnosed in January 2014 following a series of tests, and began a six-month course of chemotherapy. In September, she was cleared of the disease.

Addison told the Daily Mail: ‘It’s indescribable how happy I was to get the all-clear – I’ve never felt happiness like it.”
