Wild Turkey master distillers embark on US tour

Wild Turkey Bourbon’s father and son master distillers Jimmy and Eddie Russell will travel across the US on board a “distillery on wheels” as part of the brand’s new Never Tamed Bourbon Tour.

The Never tamed Bourbon Tour will also give the brand the opportunity to showcase three new expressions

Designed to “educate and entertain” bartenders and fans of Bourbon and Rye, the distillers will travel on a 50-foot replica of the Wild Turkey Visitor Centre in Kentucky.

Brand owner Gruppo Campari said the tour will offer a glimpse into the brand’s history, focusing on the people and products that are part of its heritage on the Bourbon Trail.

The master distillers will make special appearances at certain stops across the country to reflect on their combined 95 years experience’ of distilling.

It was revealed in January this year that Jimmy Russell, who recently celebrated his 60th anniversary with Wild Turkey, would share the role of master distiller with his son Eddie.

A mobile bar and lounge will supply Old Fashioned cocktails, and a specially-designed tasting room will give visitors the chance to sample the brand’s portfolio, guided by experts on the taste, smell, colour and maturation.

The tour will also give the brand the opportunity to showcase three new expressions – Wild Turkey Master’s Keep, Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel Rye and Russell’s Reserve 1998 – to a select group of VIPs.

The tour begins in Dallas on April 3, and will include destinations such as New Orleans, San Francisco and Chicago.
