Pernod Ricard finalises sale of Caribe Cooler

Pernod Ricard has completed the sale of its Mexican RTD brand Caribe Cooler to Grupo Bepensa for an undisclosed sum.

Pernod Ricard has sold its Caribe Cooler RTD brand to Mexico’s Grupo Bepensa

It was announced in December 2014 that the French drinks group had agreed the deal with Mexico-based conglomerate Bepensa in order to focus on its “priority” international brands in the country.

At the time, Philippe Dréano, chairman and CEO of Pernod Ricard Americas, said: “The sale of Caribe Cooler highlights both the strong positioning achieved by the brand on the Mexican market and the continuous efforts by Pernod Ricard to focus on its international spirits and wines brands in Mexico, led by Absolut Vodka, Chivas Regal and Ballantine’s Scotch whiskies and Martell Cognac.”

Available in Mexico only, Caribe Cooler is described as a “major brand” in the Mexican ready-to-drink market.

The range has now been officially handed to Bepensa after the deal as given regulatory approval.
