Cahoots – London, UK
Bringing the Blitz back to London, Cahoots opened its doors to much fanfare last month. Based in an old underground nightclub, once used as an air raid shelter, the bar is designed to evoke the image of a disused Tube carriage complete with 194os decor and menus printed on old newspapers. Those who manage to locate the inconspicuous bar are greeted by a ticket inspector, who ushers them to the ‘Kingly Court’ platform where they will enjoy a truly immersive theatrical drinking experience.

Porchlight – New York, US
New York’s latest bar offering is Porchlight, opened by restaurateur Danny Meyer. Based in an 1890s building, Porchlight is a dichotomous blend of cutting-edge New York mixology and charming Southern hospitality. The drinks menu includes a pre-bottled whiskey and cola, which uses corn whiskey, homemade cola syrup and fernet, a Sherry Cobbler and classic Sazerac.

Made in Brasil Boteco – London, UK
Cachaça has long been viewed as the poor cousin to rum and Tequila across the globe, but one enthusiast and self-defined “ambassador for Brazilians in London” set out to change this. Just this week, Renato Paziam opened “bohemian, favela-style” bar, Made in Brasil Boteco, which stocks more than 200 bottles of Brazil’s national spirit. With decor that reflects old family bars of São Paulo and El Salvador, the bar features a host of cocktails including Cachaça Sours, the Acai Caipirinha, and the Chilly Mary Caipirinha.

Whisky Jerx – Sydney, Australia
Whisky Jerx is a pop-bar new to Sydney inspired by the now iconic 90s screwball comedy Wayne’s World. It is the brainchild of bartenders Bartenders Lee Potter Cavanagh, Ben Blair and Reece Griffith, who secured the funds to set up the bar after winning Monkey Shoulder’s Ultimate Bartender Competition. The basement level of the bar is styled as Wayne’s basement, from where he filmed his namesake cable show with slacker friend Garth. The first level of the bar offers a more sophisticated vibe, serving a selection of hose-made sodas.
