Michael Kennedy, who worked with Drambuie for 13 years before its sale to William Grant & Sons in 2014, joins Stock Spirits on 27 April.

He replaces Steve Smith, who will retire later this year.

Chris Heath, CEO of Stock Spirits, said: “I welcome Michael and congratulate him on his appointment. I am delighted he is joining our company. He has a comprehensive understanding of drinks businesses and was the outstanding candidate for the role.

“The Board would also like to thank Steve for his valuable contribution to Stock Spirits over the last three years and wishes him well for the future.”

Kennedy joined Dranbuie in 2002 as regional director, Southern Europe, before taking in additional responsibility for Latin America in 2003 and GTR in 2009. He became MD and CEO in 2011.

Stock Spirits saw sales dive 14% in 2014 after experiencing what Heath described as a “tough trading environment” in Poland.
