Allied Blenders sales soar 29% to 32m cases

Allied Blenders and Distillers (ABD) recorded a 29% sales increase in 2014/15, which saw the Indian spirits producer hit 32 million cases, lead by its flagship brand Officer’s Choice.

Officer’s Choice helped ABD’s sales grow 29% in 2014/15 to 32 million cases

ABD also said the IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor) market grew just 3% over the same period, while adding that the firm also sustained a CAGR of 21% in the last five years making it one of the fastest-growing spirits companies in the country.

“The last year has been a watershed year for ABD with sales touching 32 million cases,” commented Deepak Roy, executive vice chairman and CEO, Allied Blenders and Distillers. “The journey from seven million cases merely six years ago to 32 million cases has been an exhilarating and enjoyable experience and is a testament to the strength of our values.

“ABD’s commitment to continuously provide rewarding and fulfilling experiences to its consumers has led to a whole host of product and experiential innovations which have helped us to reach the landmark of 32 million cases.

“This spectacular achievement will serve as the best springboard for ABD to now reach greater heights in the coming years.”

Three years since its initial launch, whisky brand Officer’s Choice Blue surpassed sales of seven million cases displaying a “robust” growth of 100% last year.

Furthermore, ABD’s premium brandy Kyron, which was first released two-and-a-half years ago, now boasts 21% of the market share in Indian state Andhra Pradesh and 18% in Kerala – India’s largest alcohol consuming state.

Other brands within ABD’s portfolio include Jolly Roger Rum, Lord & Master Brandy, Class 21 Vodka and Wodka Gorbatschow.

In May 2014, Officer’s Choice overtook Diageo’s Johnnie Walker Scotch whisky to become the biggest whisky brand in the world.
