Last Drop Distillers launches 48YO blended Scotch
The Last Drop Distillers has released just 592 bottles of its fourth limited edition expression – a 48-year-old blended Scotch whisky with a £2,600 (US$4,000) price tag.
Just 592 bottles of the Last Drop Distillers 48 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky will be made available
The youngest malts and grains in the Last Drop 48 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky were distilled in 1965.
A small sample of the original blend was chosen by the distillery’s chief blender 27-years-ago and placed in ex-Bourbon American oak casks to be aged further.
The 48-year-old expression is said to have aromas of peaches, pears and cinnamon spiced orange, leading to a “smooth, complex” honeyed flavour on the palate with notes of peaches, pear brandy and toasted oak wood.
Each bottle has been hand sealed and dipped in wax at its natural cask strength of 48.6% abv, and comes presented in a leather box with a 50ml miniature and a leather-bound booklet of certification.
The 48YO release joins the distillery’s former limited edition bottlings comprising The 1960 Blended Scotch Whisky, The 50 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky and The 1950 Cognac.
Bottles of the Last Drop Distillers 48 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky are available on allocation from The Last Drop Distillers.
