Isle of Arran set to launch 18YO single malt

Isle of Arran Distillery is readying to launch its oldest Scotch whisky expression yet to complete its single malt trilogy – Arran 18 Year Old Single Malt.

Isle of Arran 18 Year Old whisky is set to launch later this month

The new expression joins the existing 16- and 17-year-old editions, is non-chill-filtered and has been aged in ex-Sherry hogsheads to create “depth, quality and flavour”.

On the nose, Arran 18 Year Old is said to have notes of toasted almonds, honey and spice, with flavours of ginger, caramelised brown sugar and orange marmalade on the palate, finishing with toasted brioche and toffee apples.

“2015 is a special year for the distillery,” commented James MacTaggart, master distiller at the Isle of Arran Distillery.

“We’re celebrating our 20th anniversary and with it the bottling of our most mature whisky yet; we feel a very appropriate way to mark our birthday.”

Only 9,000 bottles of Isle of Arran 18 Year Old are to be launched globally in markets including Canada, Australia and Japan, with a limited number to be made available via the Isle of Arran Whisky website from 16 March.

Bottled at 46% abv, Arran 18 Year Old carries an RRP of £72.99.
