The award-winning distillery in Park City, Utah, named the Bourbon after the American Prairie Reserve, the largest wildlife reserve in the lower 48 statesThe award-winning distillery in Park City, Utah, named the Bourbon after the assembly of the largest wildlife reserve in the lower 48 states, the 5000-square-mile American Prairie Reserve – and plans to donate 10% of the profits towards the project.
This release, the second in the series of the Reserve’s namesake Bourbons, is said to have “a well-balanced marriage of honey nougat, candy corns, sweet corn bread biscuits, juicy fruit gum and caramel apples” with “a dose of cinnamon spice” and a “long, sweet finish”.
The first Bourbon of the two highlighted the greater sage grouse on the label – now a candidate for Endangered Species Act protection – while this updated blend features a pronghorn antelope, also at risk.
High West proprietor David Perkins said: “All of us at High West are passionate about the American West’s culture, heritage and natural beauty, and we’re thrilled to support and help raise awareness for one of the most fantastic projects of our time.
“We sincerely thank all those who support the Reserve by purchasing this whiskey and we’re proud to make a small contribution to this amazing effort.”
High West’s American Prairie Bourbon will be available in 42 states across the US.
The distillery opened in December last year, and is the first of its kind to open in Utah since 1870.
