Chivas Regal seeks to reward social entrepreneurs

Chivas Regal Scotch whisky has lent its support to a new Cabinet Office campaign to boost the UK economy.

At an event hosted at the Strathisla Distillery last week, the Chivas Brothers-owned brand joined the Great Britain campaign, designed to “promote the UK as a “number one global destination for social investment”.

Chivas Regal recently launched its own global campaign, called The Venture, to support promising social entrepreneurs and giving them the opportunity to win £1 million.

The global final of The Venture featuring 16 contestants will take place in Silicon Valley in July.

The next stage of the government’s Great Britain campaign was launched by Cabinet Office minister Francis Maude, Pernod Ricard UK managing director Denis O’Flynn, British Council Scotland director Lloyd Anderson and Bruce Mann, CEO of Delivered Next Day Personally – a social enterprise courier service based in Glasgow who is a finalist in The Venture.

“Entrepreneurial thinking and a spirit of generosity are at the heart of the Chivas story. John and James Chivas were entrepreneurs with a social conscience,” said O’Flynn.

“The Venture competition is one of the ways we keep those values alive today. The diversity and quality of the entries we’ve had for The Venture really demonstrates the vibrancy of the UK social economy.”
