Sazerac to launch new flavoured vodkas
By Melita KielyThe Sazerac Company is set to expand its Taaka vodka brand with the launch of two new flavour variants, Pineapple and Watermelon.
Taaka Watermelon and Taaka Pineapple vodkas will be available in the US this springSet to launch in the US this spring, the new flavours have been created to offer “distinct tastes that are reminiscent of summer”.
The brand assures that the “conventional” flavours have great potential to be mixed in cocktails.
“These two new flavours are fun, come with great fresh taste, and are familiar flavours,” said Tracey Clapp, marketing director for vodka. “We’re excited to offer our Taaka fans more flavours to discover and enjoy.”
With an abv of 30%, Taaka Pineapple and Watermelon have an RRP of US$7.99 per 750ml bottle.
In 2014, bartenders were encouraged not to take the flavoured vodka category too seriously but to embrace “crazy” vodka flavours such as whipped cream.
However, last month a recent analysis showed that imported flavoured vodkas are losing market share in the US due to growing demand for flavoured whiskey and local brands.
