Man arrested for illegal moonshine distillery
By Melita KielyPolice have arrested a 63-year-old man for allegedly operating an illegal moonshine distillery from his home in Perth.
A Perth man has been arrested for allegedly distilling spirits illegally in his homeArmadale officers carried out a search of the man’s home in Camillo today and discovered the majority of the house was being used as a distillery.
The authorities allege the man was distilling whisky, Bourbon, vodka, “Midori”, “Jägermeister” and rum.
According to reports by WA Today, the arrested man will be summoned for a string of offences under the Liquor Act, including the sale, supply and manufacturing of illegal spirits.
Charges have not yet been made and inquiries are still on-going to determine whether any additional federal offences may have been committed.
Last August, police officers in Virginia, US, destroyed an illicit moonshine still and arrested a man on suspicion of working an illegal moonshine distillery from his home.
Earlier in 2014, the leading character of US TV show Moonshiners was granted permission to have his whiskey made legally in the Virginia.
