Johnnie Walker rings in Chinese New Year with Ram edition
By Becky PaskinJohnnie Walker is ringing in the Chinese New Year next week with the launch of a limited edition Blue Label Year of the Ram Scotch whisky.
Johnnie Walker Blue Label Year of the Ram is the second edition in the Scotch whisky brand’s Chinese New Year seriesThe special edition bottle celebrates Chinese ceramic artistry and tradition through its label artwork.
The metallic blue and silver bottle illustrates three rams standing in “distinguished” positions – a reference to the Book of Changes that supposedly signifies a New Year of good fortune.
Brian Cox, director of Scotch whisky for Diageo, said: “The Lunar Year is an incredibly exciting and significant holiday in the Chinese tradition. We are proud to honour it with our finest blend – Johnnie Walker Blue Label – so that people can enjoy the Lunar New Year responsibly and with quality.”
The ram is traditionally associated with good fortune, beauty and determination in Chinese culture.
Johnnie Walker Blue Label Year of the Ram is the second in the brand’s Chinese New Year series, which began with a Year of the Horse release in January 2014.
The Year of the Ram is now available in markets worldwide, including the US and China, for an RRP of US$258 for a 750ml bottle.
