Edgerton celebrates Damehood of Zandra Rhodes

Edgerton Pink Gin hosted a star-studded party marking the Damehood of pink-haired fashion designer Zandra Rhodes last week, as the brand also celebrated its success at top London retailers.

Held at London’s Fashion and Textile Museum on 13 February, the event marked the designer’s new title of Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

It followed an official ceremony at Buckingham Palace, where Queen Elizabeth II’s daughter Princess Anne bestowed Rhodes with the honour.

As sponsor, Edgerton provided cocktails for the event, which was attended by a host of Rhodes’ celebrity friends including British actor Christopher Biggins.

At the same time, the brand – touted as the “world’s first” pink gin – is celebrating its successful listing at luxury London retailers Harrods, Fortnum & Mason and Harvey Nichols.

“We are conscious that the three most prestigious retailers in London – Fortnum & Mason, Harrods and Harvey Nichols – are besieged by the huge numbers of gins, 200 at least,” said Martin Edgerton Gill, founder of Edgerton Pink Gin.

“We are, therefore, most grateful to have the opportunity to do tastings which have been wonderfully well received. To be one of the very top sellers with Edgerton Original Pink is enormously gratifying.

“We do not sell to supermarkets and we pride ourselves in trying to offer to luxury outlets the kind of personalised service that they offer to their customers.”

Edgerton recently crowned Edinburgh-based bartender Miran Chauhan as winner of its inaugural Edgerton Pink Gin Masters cocktail competition, run in collaboration with The Spirits Business magazine.
