Drinks firm Diageo has appointed Marco Preda, formerly of Ralph Lauren, to the newly created role of general manager of digital and e-commerce Europe.

Marco Preda has been appointed for Diageo’s newest role, general manager of digital and e-commerce

Preda is joining Diageo from Ralph Lauren, where he was the senior director for e-commerce, business operations and strategic planning.

His new title will see him responsible for generating new business, unifying the company’s digital practices to maximise online sales, and strengthening partnerships with the brand’s key customers.

He will also be accountable for www.thebar.com; Diageo’s comprehensive online resource for information and inspiration on spirits and cocktails.

Preda said: “As industry leader, Diageo is at the forefront of innovation and there is tremendous potential to further strengthen the business on the digital front.

“I am excited to lead this talented team to develop a best-in-class digital strategy for Diageo and offer a fantastic, seamless experience with our brands online to both our customers and our consumers.”

During his time at Ralph Lauren, Preda led the development of the brand’s digital customer experience, and launched its e-commerce platform in 15 countries across Europe.

John Kennedy, president of Diageo Europe, said: “We are delighted to welcome Marco and his considerable digital expertise to Diageo.

“We are constantly seeking new ways to innovate and to showcase and sell our brands in the most exciting, new, and convenient ways possible.

“The digital world opens up new opportunities for us and we are really excited about the role Marco will play in shaping the future of the company.”

Preda will be based at Diageo’s headquarters in London.
