Belvedere Vodka launches Wild Berry edition

Belvedere Vodka has introduced an “innovative” Wild Berry flavour to reflect American consumers’ demand for “refreshing rather than indulgent” flavours.

Belvedere Wild Berry is a “refreshing rather than indulgent” flavour

The new expression has been created by macerating wild Polish strawberries and American blueberries in Belvedere vodka, without the addition of sugar or additives.

Claire Smith-Warner, head of spirit creation and mixology for Belvedere Vodka, said the addition of Wild Berry to the brand’s portfolio brings Belveders to “a whole new level”.

“In developing a berry variant, we wanted to feature refreshing rather than indulgent flavours, and strawberry was a natural fit as the most popular flavour in the US,” she said.

“We carefully selected indigenous varieties of berries providing a beautifully-balanced and aromatic experience.”

Sales of flavoured vodka have been declining in the US, with volumes of imported flavoured vodka falling by 5% to 1.1m nine-litre cases according to Rabobank’s Spirits Quarterly Q1 2015.

The fallout has been largely blamed on consumers’ fatigue of dessert-inspired flavours such as Whipped Cream.

Charles Gibb, president of Belvédère Vodka, added: “Belvédère Wild Berry exemplifies our commitment to crafting 100% naturally and sugar free flavoured vodkas. Its fresh and delectable ingredients deliver an innovative twist on Belvédère Vodka.

“We are very excited to have created such a refreshing, luscious blend of invigorating fruits. As the global leading expert in mixology, Belvédère Vodka has again perfected a smooth and delicious flavour that exceeded our expectations and incredibly high standards we continue to hold for the brand.”
