Isle of Skye Scotch range expands with two additions
By Becky PaskinIan Macleod Distillers has introduced two new expressions to its Isle of Skye blended Scotch whisky brand.
Two new expressions join Ian Macleod’s Isle of Skye blended Scotch whisky rangeJoining the existing 8- and 12-year-olds and limited edition 50-year-old are the new 18- and 21-year-old expressions, both of which will also be limited edition bottlings.
The independent, family-owned Scottish group describes the new 18-year-old as having an “enticing coastal air” with notes of fresh fruit and light smoke.
The 21-year-old meanwhile is described as having a palate full of “honeyed porridge and tropical fruit” notes.
Neil Boyd, commercial director of Malts for Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “The Isle of Skye Blended Scotch Whisky range was created based on a 19th century family recipe that blends distinctive peaty Island and mellow Speyside malts.
“Unusually for blends, each whisky in the recipe has been aged for a minimum of eight years. The addition of the 18- and 21-year-old whiskies will provide consumers with a superb high quality alternative to the standard 8- and 12-year-old within the range.”
The 18-year-old Isle of Skye carries an RRP of £85, while the 21-year-old is available for £125.
