Glengoyne Distillery invests in tour attractions
By Becky PaskinGlengoyne Distillery has invested in developing its visitors’ centre tour to give consumers an in-depth guide to maturation and the effect of wood on whisky.
Glengoyne has invested in expanding its distillery tours to attract more visitorsVisitors will be taught how whisky’s colour, flavour and alcoholic strength changes through maturation in a variety of different barrels, through a new display created in conjunction with design agency Contagious.
The addition is part of a major investment by distillery owner, Ian Macleod, to attract more visitors through a series of in-depth tours.
Three new tours are now available this year at Glengoyne Distillery, ranging from £22.50 to £75 per person, the latter of which gives visitors the opportunity to dip into a barrel and bottle their own whisky.
Stuart Hendry, brand heritage and commercial manager for Glengoyne, said: “We are suitably proud of our reputation for allowing visitors to connect with the whisky industry in innovative and entertaining ways.
“Over the years, we’ve been the first to develop in-depth tasting tours, blendings and master classes. On the basis that there is nothing to be gained from standing still, we are delighted to announce the launch of three very hands-on experiences, none of which are available elsewhere.”
Glengoyne Distillery, situated in Dumgoyne in the Highlands, was built in 1833, and acquired by Ian Macleod Distillers in 2003.
