Crown Royal to make UK debut under new deal
Diageo’s Crown Royal Canadian whisky will be available in Great Britain for the first time as the group signs two new distribution agreements for five of its smaller brands.
Crown Royal Canadian whisky will be distributed throughout Great Britain by Marblehead
Under the deal, Marblehead will distribute Crown Royal and bitters brand Amer Picon – both new to the British market – from 1 March.
At the same time, Catalyst Brands will distribute cider brand Jeremiah Weed Brews, J&B Rare blended Scotch whisky and three variants of the Pampero rum brand, all of which are already available in the UK.
Both agreements will cover distribution to both the on- and off-trade.
“We are confident that we have chosen two great partners in Marblehead and Catalyst Brands,” said Andrew Cowan, country director, Diageo Great Britain.
“Catalyst has proven brand-building expertise and have delivered strong results in the past two years. Having worked with Marblehead on the distribution of Ypióca in the UK, we believe this is a successful model for growing some of our smaller, and more specialist, brands in this marketplace.”
Earlier this month, minority shareholders in India’s United Spirits – in which Diageo owns a controlling stake– approved a deal to make and distribute Diageo brands in the country.
