Marine wildlife artist Guy Harvey has launched his own brand of spiced rumAvailable exclusively in the US, Guy Harvey Spiced Rum is distilled in the Caribbean and is described as having a flavour of vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon.
The product was developed through a collaboration between Harvey and Shaw-Ross International Importers. In Florida, Southern Wine & Spirits has been appointed as the wholesale distributor for the brand.
“Given the rich heritage of rum with sailors, boaters and fishermen, adding a quality rum product is a logical extension of my lifestyle brand,” said Harvey, who is also well known for creating “wildlife art” and cinematography.
The rum is currently being distributed throughout Florida, but plans are in place to extend distribution to other states.
An aged Jamaican Guy Harvey-branded rum is also expected to launch in the spring.
“The Guy Harvey name is a perfect fit for spiced rum,” said Bruce Hunter, managing director of Shaw-Ross International Importers. “Additionally, rum is a growing category and spiced rum in particular is the driving force behind this growth so the timing is right for the launch of Guy Harvey Spiced Rum.”
A “significant portion” of the proceeds from Guy Harvey Spiced Rum will be used to fund various projects of the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation.
The product has been bottled at 35% abv and carries an RRP of US$15 per 750ml bottle.
