Buffalo Trace to expand visitors’ centre

Buffalo Trace Distillery has revealed it plans to expand its visitors’ centre following an influx in footfall last year.

Buffalo Trace is to expand its visitors’ centre after seeing a 26% increase in footfall in 2014

As reported by the Lexington Herald, the Frankfort-based distillery received 123,331 visitors last year – a 26% increase on 2013 and 145% increase on 2009.

As such, the Bourbon distillery, owned by Sazerac, plans to expand its vistors centre, renovating a 5,500 square foot space above the building to add another tasting room, meeting and event space.

The expansion is estimated to cost around US$2.2 million and is expected to be completed in time for the Kentucky Derby in May.

It was revealed in November last year that Buffalo Trace had acquired 233 acres of land adjacent to its distillery in order to produce single estate Bourbon and rye.
