Teeling Irish whisky distillery close to completion
By Becky PaskinThe Teeling Whiskey Co is one step closer to opening its Dublin distillery following the arrival of its three new copper pot stills.
The Teeling Irish whiskey distillery in Dublin is to open to the public in early 2015The installation of the stills marks the return of distilling to the city for the first time in over 125 years.
Located in Dublin’s Newmarket in The Liberties, the Teeling Distillery will be a revival of the original Teeling family-owned distillery that produced Irish whiskey in the area in the 18th century.
The three new stills – a 15,000-litre wash still, 10,000-litre intermediate still and 9,000-litre spirit still – were produced by Frilli Impianti in Sienna, Italy, and are now being installed at the Dublin site.
The Teeling Whiskey Co expects distillation to begin early in the New Year.
Jack Teeling, founder of the Teeing Whiskey Co, said: “Today is a major milestone in the development of the new Teeling Distillery, with the final pieces of the jigsaw, the copper pot stills, finally positioned in their new home in Newmarket.”
The distillery, which will produce over 500,000 litres of whiskey per year, will be open to the public in early 2015.
