SB Lunch raises over £1,200 for The Benevolent

Spirits industry professionals have raised more than £1,200 for The Benevolent, a charity that works to offer emotional, practical and financial support to vulnerable people within the drinks community.

David Cox, CEO of The Benevolent, and Kathryn Lodge at the Spirits Masters Awards Lunch 2014

The generous amount was donated at the Spirits Masters Awards Lunch held at The Roof Gardens in Kensington, London, last week, which acknowledged the medal winners of The Spirits Business’ 2014 Spirits Masters and the Grand Spirits Masters winners.

By donating to The Benevolent charity, guests at the event were entered into a “Prize Draw” for the opportunity to win a presentation box containing a bottle of The Black Tot Last Consignment Royal Navy Rum, complete with a brass measure.

Estimated to be worth approximately £650, the winner of the draw was Kathryn Lodge.

All the money donated will go towards supporting people who have worked in pubs, breweries, distilleries, off-licences and warehouses, as well as those who work in office-based positions.

“I am thrilled to inform you that we have counted all the money in the GiftAid envelopes and, once the GiftAid is paid, the total should be over £1,200,” commented David Cox, chief executive of The Benevolent.

“This is fantastic and I am absolutely delighted. Thank you so much.”
