Albion Racing Club secures snow sport sponsorship
By Melita KielyBritish spiced malt whisky brand the Albion Racing Club has secured its first sport sponsorship deal with off-piste ski race the Peter Lunn Free Ride Challenge.
Albion Racing Club is the official sponsor of the Peter Lunn Free Ride ChallengeThe culmination of the Murren Kandahar Races and Snow Sport Festival held in Switzerland during December, the race is held annually in homage to Peter Lunn, a “forefather” of Alpine (downhill) skiing, captain of the 1936 Winter Olympics and part of the British Secret Service.
“We wanted to get involved with the Murren Kandahar Races and in particular the Free Ride Challenge asour first major sports partnership because it was the incredible men and women, like Peter Lunn,, who inspired us to create Albion Racing Club,” commented Nick Pye, Albion Racing Club president.
“At its heart, the Murren Kandahar Snow Sport Festival is about recapturing a very British spirit of adventure, challenge and having a go.
“We also love the British connections with Murren and the fact that it is where Bond first took to the slopes, in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.”
To celebrate the partnership, Albion Racing Club will also be awarding the very first Sir Hilary Bray Cup, named after the James Bond character, which will be presented to the skier who demonstrates the “most style, courage and spirit both on and off the piste”.
